Covid Restrictions and Innovative Fundraising
2020 was a challenging year with the onset of the Covid pandemic and accompanying restrictions. We had to adapt quickly to the changing rules and work in ways to ensure families received the same quality of care and attention. We had to work in mixed teams.
We also launched our ‘What Happens At A Funeral’ short film which is a resource that can be used by people who may not know what to expect. This has been very well received and has over 37000 views on YouTube. https://www.rosedalefuneralhome.co.uk/what-happens-at-a-funeral/
We took part in the Eye Sculpture trail with the help of photographer Wendy Aiken who used photographs from her project of capturing pictures of households during the covid restrictions to adorn the hare. The hare was then auctioned off to raise money for the Blossom Charity.
Anne, as part of another fundraising campaign, swam 21 miles, the equivalent of the English Channel, in 7 days raising £1631 for Nelson’s Journey, a childhood bereavement charity in Norfolk. This was especially important as the Covid restrictions meant that many charities couldn’t do their usual fundraising.
With that in mind, six members of Rosedale took on the ‘Ration Challenge’ – where for five days they would eat the same rations as a Syrian refugee living in a camp in Jordan: just a small amount of rice, lentils, chick peas, beans, fish and oil. With an aim of raising £942 to support six refugees, we were so proud to have raised enough to support over sixteen refugees with £2649.38 raised.
