National Volunteers’ Week

It is National Volunteers’ Week and we at Rosedale would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Wendy Mayhew who volunteers with Rosedale and helps support our Suffolk Bereavement Support Groups. We are incredibly grateful for the time, compassion, experience, and dedication Wendy brings to our groups.

Thirteen years ago, Wendy’s husband sadly passed away, and she attended one of our bereavement support groups. The support she received, along with the friendships she formed during the eight-week programme, many of which continue to this day and have had a lasting impact on her. Inspired by that experience, Wendy decided she wanted to give something back to others facing a similar journey.

Wendy is an invaluable part of our team. She is always there to listen, offer encouragement, and provide reassurance to those attending our groups. Through her kindness and understanding, she helps people see that, while life is never the same after the loss of a loved one, it is still possible to find purpose, connection, and fulfilment with the right support.

During National Volunteers’ Week, we are proud to celebrate Wendy and the difference she makes to so many lives. Thank you, Wendy, for everything you do.

What is National Volunteers’ Week?

Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers.

Launched in 1984, this initiative has been running for over 40 years, providing organisations and communities a platform to thank current and past volunteers for their invaluable efforts.

The campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK. In its 40th year, the campaign underwent a rebrand, introducing a vibrant identity to inspire continued engagement.

To find out more about the amazing work of volunteers and the week itself, please see their website at https://volunteersweek.org/
