Fond Farewell to George Ling
Following the decision of George Ling to retire at the wonderful age of 89, the team at Rosedale, along with friends and colleagues past and present, gathered to celebrate what has truly been an extraordinary career in the funeral profession.
For more than three decades, George has been a steady and compassionate presence for families in Bungay and the surrounding communities. At the heart of his work has always been kindness and a quiet reassurance, a listening ear, and an unwavering commitment to supporting those facing their most difficult days. His care never faltered, and his gentle professionalism earned him the deep respect of both the families he served and the colleagues who had the privilege to work alongside him.
George has been far more than a valued member of the team; he has been a friend, a mentor, and a source of wisdom and warmth. The messages shared in the memory book presented at his retirement celebration speak volumes as pages were filled with memories.
‘George is such a special person, he holds a place in the hearts of so many people he has worked with and who he has looked after. We are so lucky to have been able to call him a colleague and friend’
Lucy Coote
The afternoon itself was a fitting tribute. Stories were fondly retold some touching, some humorous, all reflecting the remarkable character of a man who has given so much of himself to others. There was laughter, there were a few tears, and above all, there was enormous appreciation for everything George has meant to so many.
George leaves behind an enduring legacy in Bungay not only of dedicated service, but of humanity, dignity, and genuine care.
We wish him a long, happy, and well-earned retirement. He will be greatly missed and always remembered with warmth.
