At Rosedale Funeral Home, our annual Services of Remembrance are very special occasions within our community calendar. They offer a time for reflection and comfort at what can be a difficult time of year. At our Harleston service, you can be assured of a warm welcome, and if you have any concerns at all, please contact Kerry or Fiona at our Harleston branch on 01379 853999 who will be happy to answer any questions you might have to ensure you feel comfortable and included.
When is it taking place?
This year, our Harleston Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday 5th December at 6.00pm at the London Road Church in Harleston (IP20 9BH). It is open to everyone, no matter how long ago the bereavement or which funeral director was used.
Where is it going to be held?
Although our service has traditionally been held at St John’s Church in Harleston, the recent fire has meant that an alternative venue was needed this year. We are extremely grateful to Reverend Bruno Boldrini and the congregation at London Road Church, a Free Church in the town, for so kindly offering their space and hospitality for this.
The Service
Led by two ministers
Reverend Boldrini will be co-officiating the service alongside John Taylor. Both ministers have taken services for families that have used Rosedale and will bring a personal and warm quality to the service.
Rosedale Christmas Memorial Tree
A key feature of the service will be our Rosedale Christmas Memorial Tree, a tradition that many families have found comforting over the years. Guests are invited to write the names of loved ones, or a short message of remembrance, on tags which can then be hung on the tree.
Candle lighting
During the service, there will also be an opportunity to light a candle in memory of your loved one. This simple act often brings a quiet sense of peace, allowing a few moments of personal reflection. As the candles gently glow, it is a reminder that even in the darkness of grief, there is hope.
Harleston Sancroft Academy Choir
We are delighted that the Harleston Sancroft Academy Choir will once again be joining us.
Refreshments
After the service, we warmly invite everyone to stay for refreshments. This is often a chance to talk with others who understand what it means to grieve, to share memories, or simply to sit and listen in the company of those who care. Our Rosedale team will be there to offer a friendly face and a listening ear to anyone who may need it.
I find the service really special and it’s so welcoming – nobody needs to be worried about coming.
