At Rosedale Funeral Home, our annual Services of Remembrance are very special occasions within our community calendar. They offer a time for reflection and comfort at what can be a difficult time of year. At our Beccles service, you can be assured of a warm welcome, and if you have any concerns at all, please contact Alison or Karen at our Beccles branch on 01502 714445 who will be happy to answer any questions you might have to ensure you feel comfortable and included.
When is it taking place?
This year, our Beccles Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday 5th December at 2.30pm at St Michael’s Church, Beccles (NR34 9HE). It is open to everyone, no matter how long ago the bereavement or which funeral director was used.
Where is it going to be held?
Once again, we have been fortunate enough to secure St. Michael’s Church in Beccles for the service. Built sometime between 1350 and 1500, the church at one point was used as a lookout over the River Waveney and the surrounding marshes. In the present time, the church is a staple part of life in Beccles and the surrounding areas. It regularly holds events and concerts to support the local community, including our very own Service of Remembrance.
The Service
Led by Reverend Dimitri Theulings and the Beccles Parish team
Alongside Reverend Dimitri Theulings and the Beccles Parish team, we are fortunate to also have guest speaker, Civil Celebrant Chloe Middleton.
Rosedale Christmas Memorial Tree
A key feature of the service will be our Rosedale Christmas Memorial Tree, a tradition that many families have found comforting over the years. Guests are invited to write the names of loved ones, or a short message of remembrance, on tags which can then be hung on the tree.
Candle lighting
During the service, there will also be an opportunity to light a candle in memory of your loved one. This simple act often brings a quiet sense of peace, allowing a few moments of personal reflection. As the candles gently glow, it is a reminder that even in the darkness of grief, there is hope.
Refreshments
After the service, we warmly invite everyone to stay for tea, coffee, mince pies and sausage rolls. This is often a chance to talk with others who understand what it means to grieve, to share memories, or simply to sit and listen in the company of those who care. Our Rosedale team will be there to offer a friendly face and a listening ear to anyone who may need it.
“It is always so lovely to see the families we have taken care of and welcome them to the Church for our annual service. A time to all come together and remember our lost loved ones”
Alison and Karen, from the Rosedale branch in Beccles
