Christian Fairbrother
Funeral Director – Dip FD
Christian Fairbrother joined Rosedale in April 2011 as a Funeral Director based at the Diss branch. Prior to this he worked for 23 years as a Payroll Manager working in Human Resources at both Hamlin Electronics, Diss, then at Suffolk New College, Ipswich.
His role as Funeral Director involves being regularly on-call to bring the deceased into our care from nursing homes and residential addresses, arranging all aspects of funerals with our families; conducting the funeral on the day, coffin preparation, the care of the deceased which includes dressing/preparation and viewings in our Chapel of Rest and the care/transfer of the cremated remains for our families. Christian also runs the ‘Introduction to the Funeral Profession’ training days at Diss for care home staff, doctors’ staff, independent carers and students. He says the best and most rewarding thing about his role is having the honour and privilege to arrange and conduct the funerals of our families, who come to us at what can be one of the most difficult and emotional events that someone can experience during their life.
Christian has lived in Diss for the last twenty-seven years with his wife Julia, their cat Dottie, and dog Dash. In his spare time, he enjoys running and is a member of The Diss Heywood Joggers Group. He also enjoys cycling, music festivals, gardening, holidays abroad, camping trips as well as spending time relaxing with his family and friends. He is a massive F1 fan. He also likes watching football and his beloved team ‘Ipswich Town!’. Christian is also a volunteer helper at Diss Youth Group as well as being their Treasurer.
